THE CLINIC

Bromley Health Management is a specialist clinic in complementary and alternative medicine, based in Orpington. Edith Maskell has been working with clients in the South East for almost 15 years with a total client base in excess of 3,500.

Whilst she has worked in the corporate environment helping employees and employers manage stress, utilising NLP & Hypnosis and therapies like Seated Acupressure, Reflexology, Bach Flower Remedies, Remedial Massage and Aromatherapy. She now focuses on a one to one basis at her clinic.

Edith's successful practice has resulted from working with many clients from babies to the elderly presenting with a variety of conditions and symptoms. Using the B.E.S.T System to carry out allergy tests and complete health screening. Edith has had most success with clients experiencing "mystery illnesses" and sometimes embarassing illnesses. These clients have had a variety of medical tests and be given a diagnosis that "there is nothing wrong" - all their tests are negative. Whilst they may not have a disease that can be diagnosed but clearly these people are not well.

The B.E.S.T System is a sophisticated complete health screening service which can give an indication of how organs and structures are functioning in the body and from there, searches for homeopathic, herbal remedies and nutritional supplements which may help rectify imbalances in the meridian system (energetic). Along with nutritional advice tailored to the individual. Most importantly, serious commitment from the client is required to follow the advice given, and then success can be achieved.

Many clients visit Edith for a health M.O.T; a "tune up" and to get some nutritional advice on an annual basis just to ensure they are keeping on track. "You wouldn't consider taking your car out on a long journey without first checking oil, water, breaks and tyres" says Edith, "so why put so much pressure on your body without checking it out from time to time?"

Screening is carried out by taking readings from acupuncture points on the hands and feet with an electronic probe which looks just like a pen. No pain or blood is involved.

Edith has worked with parents who wish to have children. She is quick to point out that "no one would consider planting a prize rose in stony ground" and stresses the importance of checking for vitamin and mineral deficiencies, proper absorption of nutrients, food intolerances and hormone and emotional imbalance. These simple processes are often forgotten in the complexities involved in attempts to become pregnant. It is her view that vitamin and mineral deficiencies may be a precursor to infertility.

Whilst it may be coincidental as Edith has no random controlled evidence, her own anecdotal evidence suggests that the combination of nutritional advice, Reflexology and hypnotherapy sometimes culminates in pregnancy. By continuing reflexology right through pregnancy to birth, many potential parents have become happy parents as a result. And after all that Edith, delights in teaching the happy parents how to massage their baby (or, as in two cases, babies).

Edith is also a Master Practitioner in NLP & Hypnosis and Time Line Therapy. She uses these techniques to assist in cases of smoking cessation, phobias, weight management, public speaking, nail biting, team motivation and stress management; both in the corporate world and in one to one situations. Edith's aim is to help her clients be aware that "if they always do what they've always done, they'll always have what they've got".
