Nutritional Advice

Optimum Nutrition aims to provide you with the daily balance your body needs for optimum performance. It is about finding foods which will help you achieve better health and avoiding those which may not suit you.

There is a scale of health that ranges from optimal health to terminal illness. Most people are somewhere in the middle. Many people however, though having no clear illness, continually feel "under-par".

Common complaints include:

- Fatigue - tired all the time for no apparent reason
- Poor memory- foggy brain - lack of concentration
- Recurrent infections
- IBS - constipatino, diarrhoe or other digestive problems

- Diabetes
- Osteoporosis
- Cardiovascular disease

These are all known to be influenced by nutrition.  In fact, there is no medical condition that isn't influenced by nutrition.

Some believe that a "well balanced" diet is sufficient for all our nutritional requirements. Forgetting, or not realising, that many nutrients are lost from food before they reach the body due to modern farming techniques, food processing and cooking methods.

Nutritional deficiencies can initially result in minor ailments leaving us feeling tired, fed up and unable to exercise. A long term unchecked modern diet undoubtedly plays a role in the development of chronic disorders.

There is no ideal diet that is appropriate for everyone. Multiple factors affect the nutritional requirements of each individual. They depend on specific genetic make-up, age, sex, medical history, exposure to pollution and the ability to digest and absorb nutrients properly.
