Reflexology Reflexology is more than just foot massage. It can aid relaxation, and stimulate the circulatory system and the body's elimination processes to help with a range of conditions. Reflexology is a science (like Acupuncture and Acupressure) following the principle that energy travels through the body along pathways known as meridians or zones. Energy (Chi) is the bio-electrical system of the body. Meridian zones relate to all the major organs and structures of the body and are mirrored hence "reflected", on the feet and hands, just like an A- Z map. How does it work ? There are 10 meridians or zones on the feet and hands, (5 on each), representing the right and left sides of the body. Within each zone are reflex points (junction boxes/traffic lights) along the way. Each zone is associated to a particular organ or structure - liver, heart, bladder, large and small intestine etc. By applying pressure with fingers, thumbs and knuckles to these tiny reflexes zone by zone, an experienced Practitioner can influence the whole body. What happens during a treatment ? The practitioner will assess the whole body (via the feet or hands) by linking together a thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology, information gleaned during a full lifestyle and medical consultation (prior to treatment) and any areas of sensitivity and/or congestion felt and observed by patient and practitioner. To be effective, those areas are then "treated". (Extra stimulation or massage is applied using deep pressure to encourage elimination). Prior to treatment the feet are cleaned with a refreshing spray and then massaged. During treatment a silk herbal cushion of camomile and lavender can be placed over the eyes to further enhance relaxation. Treatments conclude with a relaxing foot massage using essential oils appropriate to individual clients' needs. How will Reflexology benefit me ? Deep pressure through Reflexology techniques facilitates relaxation, stimulates the circulatory and elimination processes, I improves nerve and blood supply, effects blood sugar levels and relieves aches and pains. It is most effective in calming and balancing energy flow throughout the whole body and is a particular antidote to internalised stress affecting all organs and structures. PLEASE NOTE : It is not within the domain of a qualified Reflexologist to make or confirm a medical diagnosis. BOOK AN APPOINTMENT! To book an appointment call 0800 093 1178...
