Casein, Gluten and Morphine The many faces of a gluten intolerance Gluten equates to the proteins which are found in wheat and the derivatives of wheat. It is also acknowledged that a gluten intolerance is NOT Coeliac Disease but the principle is the same. It is also accepted that a gluten intolerance is NOT an allergy to wheat or other foods. Gluten is a contributory factor (if not the cause) in degeneration of internal organs and ultimately a known life threatening, medical disease.Allegedly, from recent research… knowing all that, it still takes doctors 13 years to diagnose Coeliac - heaven help those who "only" suffer from an intolerance to gluten....... ! Source: http:news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/6623236/stm. Another study identified that 47% of 7 year olds today, suffer gluten intolerance. If it is not acknowledged at this age, who knows what condition the health of the nation will be as adults? When these gluten proteins cross the digestive system into the blood stream (which is pumped around the body by the heart) it can and does attack all major organs and structures in the body. Over time, degeneration occurs which in my professional experience, is ultimately responsible for a variety of mysterious and sometimes embarrassing illnesses, "allergic responses", leaky gut syndrome, diverticulitis, IBS, kidney stones, gall bladder problems/gall stones, hiatus hernia, thyroid malfunction, skin conditions (sometimes described as suppressed anger), palpitations and depression ... the list is endless. Proteins consist of LONG chains of units known as amino acids. Normal proteins are digested by enzymes in the intestines and are broken down into these units (amino acids). If for some reason, digestion is not normal - ie incomplete and when someone has a gluten intolerance .... more than likely from birth .... in time, it destroys the villi in the intestines creating havoc in the gut, candidiasis and other bacterias /yeast over growths and possibly parasites proliferate, which disables the digestive function and results in the production of SHORT chains of amino acids (known as peptides) ..... instead of long chains. The majority of these peptides are dumped in the urine (hence many gluten intolerant individuals eventually suffer kidney problems/stones) but for some reason, a small portion of these amino acids cross into the brain with the result that they interfere with transmission in such a way that normal (brain) activity is altered or disrupted. These peptides are biologically active and somewhat similar to OPTOID peptides. It is well known that casein (found in human and cow's milk) breaks down in the stomach to produce a peptide known as casoMORPHINE which, as the name implies, will have optoid activities. Similar effects are noted with GLUTEN from wheat and some other cereals... in which the compounds formed are gluteMORPHINS or gliadinomorphins. Hence why I have found in my practice that those who are gluten sensitive are usually also casein and lactose sensitive and as a result don't tolerate dairy well. They’re not allergic to it; more that their compromised digestive system simply doesn’t tolerate it well or has difficulty digesting it. The main point here is that the ingestion of gluten (for those who are intolerant) - affects brain activity! Therefore, it doesn't take a brain surgeon to work out that many gluten intolerant individuals often suffer nervous anxiety, worry, depression, illogical and irrational thinking, looking and feeling stressed without any logic or background and shallow breathing and panic attacks are also common. However, some patients say they don't feel stressed (possibly because stress is viewed as something which comes from an external source) and as far as they’re concerned, they're not experiencing external stress say, from work, relationships, financial and so on. However, from my professional perspective, it would appear there is a great deal of INTERNAL stress and so the conclusion is that the body must be under pressure of some kind, affecting its ability to function effectively? Being bombarded by something ? When the immune system is constantly fighting off these "alien" proteins alongside other environmental toxins like amalgams and other metals (from vaccinations and the food chain), chemicals, pesticides, parasites, viruses, yeast over growth (Candidiasis) and Uncle Tom Cobley et al – it stands to reason the body will struggle to function properly. It’s constantly battling to keep us alive never mind, give us the quality of life it was designed to do. To find out if you’re body is functioning properly and what the effects of a possible gluten intolerance may be having on your life or someone you know, call Edith Maskell now on FREEPHONE 0800 093 1178 and make a FREE initial consultation to discuss your case history.
