Can Pollution Really Cause Asthma?

Research at the University of California suggests pollution may be a causal factor in developing asthma.

Researchers studied a group of Rhesus monkeys placed in a controlled environment described as "similar to Mexico City" for a few months. The animals subsequently developed symptoms similar to Asthma, such as reduced Lung capacity, wheezing and sensitivity to the dust-mite allergen.

Meanwhile, a recent comparison of childhood asthma rates in the former East and West Germany found Asthma rates were significantly lower in the more heavily polluted eastern provinces.

Surprisingly, since the introduction of the Clean Air Act in the UK which dramatically reduced levels of air pollution over the last 20 years, the amount of asthma cases in the UK has risen.

Thought for the Day:

No great artists ever sees things as they really are. If he did then he would cease to be an artist.

SO YOU WANT TO STOP SMOKING ONCE AND FOR ALL?

There is no single magic approach to stopping smoking.  It’s a learned behaviour (we’re not born smokers).  There is a major psychological element as well as chemical dependency.  No single formula, system or product will do the job. All they do is make the manufacturers richer.  That’s why so many attempts fail.

Whilst there is no quick, easy way to quit smoking - if you want to find out how you can stop once and for all - call Edith Maskell now on FREEPHONE 0800 093 1178 for a FREE initial consultation.
