Everything in Moderation - Even Cholesterol Levels

A study of 2,400 elderly patients in Hawaii found that those with low cholesterol levels faced an increased risk of heart disease.

Whilst those with the highest levels were 90% more likely to develop heart disease, elderly men with unusually low cholesterol were also 55% more at risk than average.

Professor David Curb of the University of Hawaii claims "lowering high cholesterol in the young and middle-aged makes sense, based on scientific studies. However, I'm not sure that is the case with the elderly...".
