Wash Your Medicine Down…

We all know the importance of drinking lots of water. However, an expert at the UAB Hypertension Clinic stressed this month that drinking water is particularly important for those on medication.

Dehydration can make the effects of medication more pronounced. "The combination of depleted fluid and medication can lead to problems such as dangerously low blood pressure".

Edith Maskell, director of Bromley Health Management adds that we should also drink plenty of water while taking vitamin and mineral supplements or after any complementary or alternative treatment. "Many treatments are detoxifying - toxins in the body are concentrated and then flushed out of the system. If we don't drink enough water, these toxins can't be passed out and remain in the body in concentrated amounts".
