Square Meals Better than Snacks Skipping meals is unlikely to help you cut your calorie intake according to researchers at the Universities of Boston and Massachusetts. They studied more than 1,500 students from 96 schools in the United States and found that children who cut meals were likely to compensate with snacks high in simple sugars and salt, boosting their overall calorie intake. According to the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, the report found that overweight students were more likely to skip breakfast than other children.
