Eggs Back on the Menu For those on low cholesterol diets, eggs could soon be back on the menu according to a report from Kansas State University. People with high blood pressure have previously been advised to avoid eggs due to their high cholesterol content. However, animal trials conducted in the U.S reveal a naturally occurring phospholid compound may help reduce the risk by reducing the amount of cholesterol digested from eggs. The nutritional benefit of high protein content, vitamins A, E, B and folate in eggs is believed to outweigh the risk of cholesterol content. According to researchers, "People with normal cholesterol levels and no family history of cardiovascular disease should not worry about eating one or two eggs a day". Edith Maskell says "Look out for a new range of eggs on the supermarket shelves containing omega-3 - the 'good' fats we need in our diet which also helps break down cholesterol".
