Tips to maximise Good Health

Here are some tips (allegedly) from genuine medical professionals and practitioners for maintaining good health.

A Leicester based Chiropractor suggests you stand on one leg whilst you brush your teeth because it words core stability muscles.  He says it also improves posture.  He suggests stand on one leg until you feel wobbly, then transfer to the other.

In a crowded place (on a train/bus etc) keep your hands occupied by reading something OR keep your hands in your pockets.  Why? Cold viruses can be passed by touching contaminated surfaces.  Escalator hand rails are a perfect example.  You can buy antiseptic sprays - always a good preventative to use before setting out.

Keep a mirror on your desk to check your posture from time to time during the day and make sure you're not slouching.

Shop for shoes at the end of the day when your feet are at their mosthot and swollen.

Eat breakfast before going to bed ie have a bowl of cereal or a yogurt - specially if you don't have time to eat until you get to work. You are asleep a long time - this way your blood sugar won't drop too low which is often a cause of migraine.

Brush your teeth before breakfast Plague and bacteria forms on our teeth overnight.  If we eat with all that still in our mouth, the bacteria multipy with the sugar rush and then we swallow it.

Take off your glasses now and again to relieve fatigue and close your eyes for a few minutes.  This relaxes the muscles because they don't have to focus on anything, thereby relieving the strain.

Lie on your right side to beat indigestion The gullet joins the stomach on the left side of the body so by lying on the right, food can move more effectively through the digestive tract.

Use silk sheets on the bed if you have dry skin it stops the drag !  Silk is also less allergic for those who suffer asthma and/or eczema.

If you have thinning hair don't brush.  Use a comb instead, it's less damaging.  Brushing can contrtibute to thinning.

Dust mites are killed when you put them in the freezer so put your child's soft toys in there at a temperature set below 20c.

Can't be bothered to go to the gym - leave the car keys at home and walk to the station.  Walking for 40 minutes a day is excellent for cariovascular health and can reduce blood pressure.

Work only the hours you're paid to work Dr Jon Wise, a London based psychiatrist says "maintaining a work/life balance is vital for good health so stop yourself working longer than the hours you're paid to do. Stress is the root cause of a lot of health problems and the reason why people start to think they have no control over their lives".

Buy snacks you don't like then you won't eat too man, if at all !

Drink soda water for heart burn Soda water is alkaline and will neutralise the acid that causes heartburn.

Open the window at bedtime Body temperature needs to drop for us to fall asleep easily.  If you toss and turn, get out of bed and then get back in again.  We change position 40 times a night; lying on your arm or with your neck slightly bent can cause subliminal discomfort and prevent you fallin asleep.  Getting out of bed forces syou to resposition yourself properly beforeo going to sleep.

Sleep on your back. Sleeping on your side or your front squahses your face into the pillow and increases the chance of lines and wrinkles ! If you wake up in the night and find yourself on your side or front, switch yourself to your back again.

Thought for the Day:

If we could read the secret history of our enemies, we would find in each man's life a sorrow and a suffering enough to disarm all hostility.
- Henry Longfellow

SO YOU WANT TO STOP SMOKING ONCE AND FOR ALL?

There is no single magic approach to stopping smoking.  It’s a learned behaviour (we’re not born smokers).  There is a major psychological element as well as chemical dependency.  No single formula, system or product will do the job. All they do is make the manufacturers richer.  That’s why so many attempts fail.

Whilst there is no quick, easy way to quit smoking - if you want to find out how you can stop once and for all - call Edith Maskell now on FREEPHONE 0800 093 1178 for a FREE initial consultation.
