Premature Birth Affects Development

Fresh evidence from a study at Syracuse University, New York suggests that children born before full term will suffer during pre-school and school age development.

The research shows that 61% of children suffering from low achievement at school were born prematurely, compared with only 23% full-term births.

Premature children also scored lower on social and behavioural ratings.
