UK Worst Record for Teenage Binge Drinking Researchers from Norumbria and Keele Universities carried out a study on 26 binge and 34 non binge drinkers and concluded that teenager binge drinkers were more at risk of absent mindedness and forgetfulness (up to four days later) than the non binge drinkers. At a British Psychological Society Conference, the researchers informed delegates that "binge drinking could be harmful to developing brains", specifically the part of the brain which underpins everyday memory. They defined binge drinking as having at least 8 units of alcohol a session for a man and 6 for women once or twice a week. Aparently, the binge drinkers in this particular study drank 30 units over two sessions each. Edith Maskell of Bromley Health Management commented that "even more alarming is the fact that many of the youngsters in this study were not even teenagers; they were still at primary school and it's clear they're already drinking twice the recommended limit for adult women which can only store up problems for the future".
