Travelling Doctor Admits Misconduct Charges

A doctor from Prescot on Merseyside has admitted misconduct charges for selling slimming tablets to healthy men and women without thorough consultations.

Dr Sudesh Madan held consultations at hair and beauty salons and hotels, selling Duramine, a powerful medication for seriously obese people. Patients often did not meet the medical criteria for obesity and were often young women looking for a quick slimming programme.

The General Medical Council claims consultation rooms were inappropriate and Dr Madan prescribed medication irresponsibly and not in the best interests of patients.
