Free Yoga on the NHS

Health Secretary Alan Milburn last month announced plans to make yoga classes available on the NHS for pensioners. Guidelines being sent to family doctors will suggest prescribing yoga, swimming and other gentle exercise in a bid to cut heart disease.

It is estimated that one third of all deaths from heart disease and a quarter from strokes could be reduced if those at risk took some moderate exercise.

Meanwhile, yoga is becoming fashionable in younger circles due to it's recognised beneficial effects on strength, flexibility and stress levels.

Some sports trainers and sports psychologists also believe yoga aids performance due to it's physical and mental benefits.

Recent converts include boxer Frank Bruno, who ran the 2001 London Marathon in 4hrs 15min, beating his previous best by over an hour.

Thought for the Day:

The dumbest people I know are those who know it all.

SO YOU WANT TO STOP SMOKING ONCE AND FOR ALL?

There is no single magic approach to stopping smoking.  It’s a learned behaviour (we’re not born smokers).  There is a major psychological element as well as chemical dependency.  No single formula, system or product will do the job. All they do is make the manufacturers richer.  That’s why so many attempts fail.

Whilst there is no quick, easy way to quit smoking - if you want to find out how you can stop once and for all - call Edith Maskell now on FREEPHONE 0800 093 1178 for a FREE initial consultation.
