Your Body's Many Cries For Water

How water alone could be used to treat many conditions.

YOUR BODY'S MANY CRIES FOR WATER

Dr F Batmanghelidj 1992

ISBN 1 899398 35 X

Anyone suffering from the following should read this book :

Obesity - excess body weight - asthma - allergies - hiatus hernia - diabetes - dyspepsia - colitis - angina - rheumatoid arthritis - backache - headaches - stress - depression - hypertension - high cholesterol

The author states that a brief understanding of the role of water in the body can transform our health needs through which preventative medicine can become the main approach to health care in any society. He states that "the solution for prevention and treatment of dehydration produced diseases, is water intake on a regular basis".

His simple truth is that dehydration can cause disease. Everyone knows that water is "good" for the body but very few of us seem to know how essential it is to one's well being or what happens to the body if it does not receive its daily requirement of water.

The human body developed from species that were given life in water, the same dependence on the life giving properties of water has also been inherited by us.

A fish out of water constitutes great stress and inherent in the species is a mechanism to adapt to temporary dehydration, ie a dominant physiology for crisis management of water.

Exactly the same transformation and crisis management of water happens to us when we are stressed.

This involves a strict rationing of water based on the assumption that water supply for the body's immediate needs is limited. The process remains in operation until the body receives unmistakable signals that it has gained access to adequate water supplies.

Water management is the only way of making sure that adequate amounts of water (and its transported nutrients) reach the more important organs first because these will have to confront and deal with any crises.

Water is therefore the ultimate system for survival in fight or flight situations. The hierarchy ensures that one structure does not receive more than its predetermined share of water. The brain function takes absolute priority over all other systems.

The "ration masters" not only reserve regulation and distribution they also give alarm signals to show that the area in question is short of water in much the same way that the radiator of a car will give off steam when the cooling system is not adequate to drive up hill.

To think that drinking tea, coffee, alcohol and other beverages are desirable substitutes for the water needs of the daily "stressed" body is an "elementary and catastrophic" mistake.

Of course they contain water but they also contain dehydrating agents. Not only do they get rid of the water they are dissolved in, they also rid water from the body's reserve (which has been rationed)!.

Children are not generally educated to drink water and a cultivated preference for the taste of sweetened beverages automatically reduces the urge to drink it.

Extensive research and clinical observations has proven that the body has a variety of sophisticated thirst (alarm) signals. Generally, we only recognise a "dry mouth".

Yet this is the very last sign of extreme dehydration the body exhibits. We can suffer from dehydration even when the mouth may be fairly moist. In the elderly particularly, the mouth can be seen to be dry yet thirst may not be acknowledged and satisfied.

Dr Batmanghelidj states that suppressing these alarm signals with medication and chemicals further dehydrates the body ie painkillers "silencing different signals of water shortages with chemical products is detrimental to the cells of the body".

Persistent pains of the body, that can not be easily explained as injury or infection, should first and foremost be interpreted as alarm signals of chronic water shortage. As should non infections, "recurring" or chronic pains. These pains include dyspeptic pain, rheumatoid arthritis, angina pain, neck and low back pain, migraine, colitis and associated constipation.

Dr Batmanghelidj advises that these pains should be treated with regular adjustments to daily water intake. NO LESS than 2 litres in 24 hours over a few days.

Urine output should be measured by water intake. With an increase in water intake there will be an increase in urine output.

Dr Batmanghelidj's scientific view therefore is that water is a natural medication for a variety of health conditions and that chronic dehydration is the root cause of many degenerative diseases. He states that if we learn to recognise water shortage then prevention and even early cure is simple.

Bearing in mind that the human body is composed of 75% water and the brain an astonishing 85% water - might there a connection between chronic dehydration and headaches, neck pain and migraine?

There are no commercial gains for encouraging any of us to treat aches and pains with water!

Dr Batmanghelidj cites many cases where he has prescribed a full glass of water every hour for chronic pain which has completely disappeared after only 3 glasses ie 3 hours.

SO YOU WANT TO STOP SMOKING ONCE AND FOR ALL?

There is no single magic approach to stopping smoking.  It’s a learned behaviour (we’re not born smokers).  There is a major psychological element as well as chemical dependency.  No single formula, system or product will do the job. All they do is make the manufacturers richer.  That’s why so many attempts fail.

Whilst there is no quick, easy way to quit smoking - if you want to find out how you can stop once and for all - call Edith Maskell now on FREEPHONE 0800 093 1178 for a FREE initial consultation.
